Ukraine Humanitarian Aid

The Howat Foundation reflects the overwhelming UK outcry for support of the Ukrainian people through its €300,000 donation to frontline humanitarian aid providers. This contribution is part of a collective national effort to respond to the rapidly escalating crisis and ensure that critical assistance reaches those most affected by the conflict.

Medical and humanitarian organisations continue to highlight the urgent and growing needs inside Ukraine. As Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) explains, “We have donated existing supplies and are rushing cargo shipments of emergency kits to those located in areas of heavy fighting.” Their teams are focusing on supporting hospitals and emergency responders, noting that “Our first priority is resupplying hospitals that are in desperate need of medicines and equipment.”

Across the region, humanitarian networks are mobilising at unprecedented speed. The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) reports that “DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance.” Yet, even with substantial international support, the needs are expanding faster than resources can reach. DEC further warns that “The number of refugees and displaced people in and from Ukraine is rising daily and the situation is deteriorating quickly.”

The scale of displacement is staggering. According to the UNHCR, “As of 18 March, 3.3 million have fled the country and the needs on the ground are becoming more critical by the day.” This reflects one of the largest and fastest-growing refugee crises in recent European history, placing immense pressure on humanitarian corridors, border support systems, and frontline medical teams.

The Howat Foundation’s donation is intended to provide immediate, tangible support to those delivering lifesaving aid — from medical supplies and emergency shelter to food distribution and cross-border assistance. Standing alongside the millions of people across the UK who have expressed solidarity with Ukraine, the Foundation is committed to helping ensure that vital humanitarian efforts can continue during this period of profound need.
